What You Need to Know About Your Nissan Key Fob
You've lost your Nissan keyfob or it's stopped functioning. Before you call the dealership or panic, trace your steps to find out the exact location you last used it.
It's not a big deal to change the battery on your Nissan key fob. You'll soon be able to get the hang out of it.
Smart Keys

The key fob that was included with your Nissan is a vital component of its advanced keyless entry system. It communicates with the vehicle's electronic systems to unlock doors as well as start the engine. It also has an attractive design, making it easy to keep in your pocket. A key fob comes with additional convenience features, like lockout protection. This feature will ensure that you don't get locked out of your vehicle with keys inside.
Unlike previous models of key fobs, that required you to put the key in the ignition slot to gain access to the vehicle's onboard systems smart keys operate wirelessly. When you walk by the vehicle the Nissan senses the Intelligent Key fob's proximity to it and activates its internal functions. This could include locking or opening the doors, lowering and raising the tailgate, or even starting the engine.
Certain smart key models are equipped with an invisible valet key made of metal. This key can be pulled out from a release on the side of the Smart Key fob to secure the trunk or glove box before handing it over to a valet. The Smart Key fob also features an accessory pocket for charging that can be used to charge the battery when it is not in use.
You may have to replace the batteries on your Nissan Intelligent Key fob if it's not functioning properly. The owner's guide will give guidelines on how to replace the batteries in all fobs.
Intelligent Key Fob
Nissan Intelligent Key Fobs allow you to open the doors of your car and start the engine at one touch. You can also turn on a set of presets to cater to your preferences such as adjusting the mirrors and seat for maximum comfort. You can also control the music from your phone, meaning you'll never have to leave your car.
Intelligent Key Fob have a built-in antenna which transmits an alert when you approach your vehicle or press one of its buttons. Once the vehicle has received the signal, the system is activated opening and locking doors, starting up the engine, and opening the trunk. If you want to test the fob, stand at a distance away from your vehicle, and then press the buttons. If The KeyLab or the horn squeaks it means you've successfully programmed your Intelligent Key Fob.
Like all remotes, Intelligent Key fobs require batteries to function. If they run out and you need to replace it, our Parts Department can help you replace it swiftly and easily. To do this, take out the hidden key and open the battery compartment of your key fob. Replace the battery with a brand new one after taking out the old one. Make sure the positive side of the new battery faces in the same direction as it did with the old one. Finally close the battery compartment and return the key to its concealed location within the case.
Remote Start
Nissan remote start is a feature that allows drivers to warm up or cool their vehicle from outside of the vehicle, if they're within operating range. The ignition in the car is activated when a driver presses a button on their key fob or smartphone application. The remote start system could also activate climate control which allows the driver to choose their preferred temperature. Some systems offer two-way communications that allow the driver to observe what is happening in their vehicle.
If your car's remote start feature isn't working, the main cause is low battery power. The key fob is powered by a tiny battery that is replaceable. It can last for around two years. The battery can be changed quickly, but you'll have to know where the hidden key is on the Intelligent Key Fob and how to open the compartment for the battery.
To do this turn your fob upside down and press the hidden key release latch that is located on the back of the keypad. Once the key pad is fully opened, remove the old battery and insert a fresh one, making sure it matches the size and configuration of the battery that is in use. Before closing the case's outer, make sure the hidden key is inserted and the key fob has been reassembled correctly. Lockout Protection
Lockout protection can prevent lockouts that are caused by impedance malfunctions. A special module inside the power control unit is able to monitor for the activity of the impedance relay, and then disables the output. This feature is only available on vehicles with the Smart Key system or through the vehicle personalization menu.
Many serious accidents have occurred as a result of a machine started up when it was supposed to shut off for repairs or maintenance. These accidents are often caused by stored energy that is not properly released. Lock-out-tag-out (LOTO) which makes sure that machines remain off until an authorized individual releases them, helps to prevent these kinds of accidents.
The LOTO system is made up of a variety of locks, tags, and other devices to isolate, secure the machine from electricity. All "affected", "authorized", and "qualified" personnel should be taught about the use of lockout/tagout devices. These devices include but are not limited to locks, chains padlocks and wedges, adapter pins and self-locking fasteners. Each device is singularly identified and labeled, with the date and the time of application as well as the name of the authorized individual and the reason behind the lockout/tag-out (repair or maintenance, for example). It is imperative to state clearly that these devices will not be removed until the LOTO procedure is complete.
